Above is your Past, Present, Future Reading with your past being the leftmost card. The center card is your present and the card on the right is the future card. Click to read the descriptions and ponder the implications of what the card means to you and your shadow. What is being illuminated for you?
Prepare Your Space: Before you begin your reading, make sure you are in a quiet and comfortable space where you can focus without distractions. You might want to light a candle or incense, or play soft music to create a peaceful atmosphere.
Shuffle the Deck: Hold the deck in your hands and take a moment to connect with it. As you shuffle the cards, consider the question or situation you want insight into. Allow yourself to be open and receptive to whatever messages the deck has for you.
Draw the Cards: When you feel ready, draw three cards from the deck. Lay them out in a row from left to right. The card on the far left represents your past, the middle card represents your present, and the card on the far right represents your future.
Interpret the Past Card: Look at the past card and consider what archetype and attribute it represents. How does this reflect past experiences, lessons, or influences that have shaped you? Remember, this is not about dwelling on the past, but understanding how it has influenced your present.
Interpret the Present Card: Moving on to the present card, reflect on the archetype and attribute it presents. This card represents your current situation or mindset, and how the past has led to it. This understanding can provide valuable insight into your present circumstances.
Interpret the Future Card: Finally, turn your attention to the future card. This card represents a potential outcome or path forward based on your current trajectory. It is not a prediction, but a possible future you can work towards or change, depending on what you see.
Reflect and Record: Take some time to reflect on the messages each card has provided. You may wish to jot down your thoughts or insights for future reference. Remember that the goal of a shadow work reading is not to predict the future, but to provide insight and guidance for self-growth and improvement.
Close the Reading: When you have finished interpreting the cards and recording your thoughts, thank the deck and return the cards. Some people like to cleanse their deck after a reading, either by storing it with a cleansing crystal, like selenite, or by passing the cards through incense smoke.
This three-card reading can be a powerful tool for gaining insight into your personal journey. It is important to approach each reading with an open mind and a willingness to confront and understand all aspects of your “shadow” self. Remember, shadow work is a process of understanding and integration, not judgement. Each reading is a step on the path to greater self-understanding and personal growth.
