Above is your Obstacle And Path Reading with your path being the right card. The left card is your obstacle. Click to read the descriptions and ponder the implications of what the card means to you and your shadow. What is being illuminated for you?
Prepare Your Space: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you will not be disturbed. You might want to create a peaceful environment with soft lighting or soothing music.
Shuffle the Deck: Hold the Shadow Work Deck in your hands and take a moment to focus on the question or situation you need clarity on. As you shuffle the cards, visualize your question or issue and open your mind to any guidance the deck may provide.
Draw the Obstacle Card: Once you feel ready, draw a card from the deck and place it on the left. This is your obstacle card, representing the current challenge or blockage you are facing.
Draw the Path Card: Next, draw another card from the deck and place it on the right. This is your path card, suggesting a potential approach or mindset that might help you overcome the obstacle.
Interpret the Obstacle Card: Look at the card on the left and take note of the archetype and attribute it represents. Reflect on how this could represent a challenge in your current situation. For example, if you drew the “Selfish Nemesis” card, it could point to self-centered behavior or attitudes that are blocking your progress.
Interpret the Path Card: Consider the archetype and attribute the card on the right presents. How can this help you navigate the challenge identified by the obstacle card? If you drew the “Understanding Goddess” card, it might suggest that empathy and understanding, either towards yourself or others, could be key in addressing the obstacle.
Reflect on the Reading: Take a moment to consider both cards together. How does the obstacle card illuminate the issues you’re facing, and how does the path card suggest a way forward? You may wish to jot down your thoughts and insights for later reference.
Close the Reading: When you have finished interpreting the cards and recording your insights, thank the deck and return the cards. Some people like to cleanse their deck after a reading, either by storing it with a cleansing crystal, like selenite, or by passing the cards through incense smoke.
The Obstacle and Path reading can provide valuable insights into the challenges we face and possible ways to overcome them. Remember, the Shadow Work Deck is a tool for self-understanding and personal growth, not a deterministic prediction of the future. The goal is to provide a new perspective, facilitating self-reflection and greater awareness of our own personal journey.
